Again the BTC community is abuzz with the infamous bet made by John McAfee in November 2017. Specifically, back at that time, the business mogul stated that over a short time, BTC would gather such great steam that by the dusk of 2020 it would trade at 1 000 000 000 dollars per single coin.
This all began two years ago in the summer when BTC started to show signs of significant progress. In this framework, in July 2017, the renowned programmer made a tweet saying that he wagered that one BTC would reach half a million dollars in value in just a 3 year period. Furthermore, the unyielding strength of John McAfee’s opinion was reinforced by his following eccentric statement:
“if not, I will eat my d*ck on national television”.
But not long after that, in November, when the digital currency price sector took off, McAfee reconsidered his wager by giving it quite a dramatic twist:
“ When I predicted Bitcoin at $500 000 by the end of 2020, it used a model that predicted $5 000 at the end of 2017. BTC has accelerated much faster than my model assumptions. I now predict Bitcoin at $1 million by the end of 2010. I will still eat my d*ck if wrong”.
As it stands, even though today the price of Bitcoin sank to a meager $3 797 ( as of February 26), McAfee keeps sticking to his 1 million worth of guns. Well, the strongest advocates of the major cryptocurrency have difficulty believing this would happen in 2 years.
However, if one engages themselves into the complicated calculations, theoretically it is nothing from science fiction. A good illustration of this is when Bitcoin was gaining 1 000 dollars in value per day for 3 consecutive days.
So what do you personally make of McAfee’s high stakes? Although right now they may sound like a pipe dream and many laugh and urge the guy to prepare for performing his ‘d*ck eating feat’, time will show who is going to laugh best.
